HELP MAKE OUR PROJECT HAPPEN

WHEN WE GROW UP is radical in its process. The real-life experiences of our cast and crew have been instilled into the creation of each of these characters and their journeys.  We wish to tell this story as authentically as possible which is why we're raising a shoestring budget to shoot the series on our own.

We intend to deliver an important, entertaining, and timely dramatic television series with high production value. With your financial help, we can independentely create a network-ready show for about $7,000 per episode. We'd love to raise enough money to shoot the entire first season of14 episodes. Your donation goes toward the costs of putting together a writers room (to include more female, BIPOC, and queer writers), securing filming locations, camera packages, lighting rentals, and so much more.  So far we've gotten by on the donated time and talents of our cast and crew, but in order to realize our vision of a completed first season, we need your support.

All donations are 100% tax-deductible

We have partnered with FROM THE HEART PRODUCTIONS, a 501(c)3 non-profit fiscal sponsor focused on compelling and powerful stories that make a difference. You will receive a receipt upon donation.

Want to PRODUCE an episode? In addition to receiving producer credit, any contribution of $5,000 or greater allows you to sponsor your own episode. Email us at hello@wwguseries.com to schedule a meeting with the team to discuss your potential involvement in the series.

WHEN WE GROW UP

AN INTIMATE AND PROGRESSIVE DRAMA SERIES FOLLOWING AN ENSEMBLE CAST OF SIX AMBITIOUS CREATIVES NAVIGATING THEIR THIRTIES IN LOS ANGELES. THIS IS A STORY OF JADED HOPE, FRIENDSHIP, AND THE SEARCH FOR RADICAL AUTHENTICITY.

A SIZZLE REEL

We shot a small teaser to capture the feeling of the show. It was an opportunity for us to see what we could create on a non-existent budget.

40 second runtime

The start of our first season of WHEN WE GROW UP finds the group together for a party where an MDMA-fueled “cuddle puddle” results in a moment of collective vulnerability that serves as a catalyst for each of their transformations throughout the season and the series at large. Our show will address the more obvious challenges of ambition and professional hurdles. However, the heart of our story lies within the personal struggles and in the relationships of the characters. Their conflicts are born from the process of growing at different paces. Our characters face many challenges that are recognizable to anyone trying to “figure it out” in a society that suggests that you should have done so by now. In reality, it’s never too late for change, and the search for radical authenticity is always worth the struggle.

Chris is perhaps the coolest of the group (but don't tell that to the others). She's witty, loyal, and always brings the party. Behind the struggling artist persona is undeniable talent and charisma. Yet, Chris seems to be running from something. Will she ever realize that she's the only thing standing in her way?

Gia, the newest of the group, is a star on the rise. Bubbly, ambitious, and bright she brings NYC energy with her to LA. She found love with Bri, and the couple is certainly on the  "up and up." However, Gia's "head in the clouds" tendencies may make her miss what's right in front of her.

For Bri, life is good. She's confident, grounded, and content. She's in tune with her career and her love life. Bri's hard-earned maturity makes her almost the mother of the group... so much so that she may be contemplating a family of her own. What will she have to sacrifice to make this happen?

Adored by all, Frank is a natural at practically anything he tries. He's got that southern-boy charm that neither his wife nor his friends can resist. Admittedly, Frank's life has been without much in the way of challenges, thus he's become quite comfortable with the status quo. However, when Ali starts to rock the boat, his entire sense of self is threatened. Will Frank be able to keep the ship from going under?

Ali is wholesome as fuck; she composts, shops at the farmers' markets, and does yoga at the beach. She is talented, kind, and successful by most standards. So why is she in the throes of an identity crisis? Will she figure it out before burning everything down in the process?

None of us understand why Derrick is still single. He is stable, determined, and effortlessly hilarious. Derrick has by all accounts achieved the American dream. However, he would give it all up to start over if he could.
